Remediation, Recovery and Recycling of Weak and Contaminated Soils
The UK’s Environment Agency states that:
The treatment of soil for the purpose of improvement of contaminated land is a recovery operation and the treated soil may be used as a substitute for virgin materials.
Detailed case studies from UK Residential Housing, Retail and Local Authority projects confirm that the Retek Process works for every UK soil type including heavy clay soils, peat soils, sludge and even dredged materials, all at processing speeds of up to 150 tonnes per hour!

Even more savings can be made at most sites as there is less need for virgin aggregates to replace dig and dump soils. In fact, in all cases where the Retek Process has been used in the UK, the treated soil has been approved by local Environment Agency teams for re-use on-site, either as a paving base for roads and car-parking areas or as structural backfill.
